CEDAR CITY – The Dixie Flyers travel to Cedar City to take on the Cedar City Redmen tonight at 7 p.m. The Flyers and Redmen have been playing since 1949 and maintain the second longest rivalry in the state, with the Flyers leading the series 47-39. Cedar City coach Todd Peacock is going for his 150th win tonight against the Flyers.

Dixie and Cedar started the season in two different directions; Dixie started 4-0 while Cedar started 0-4. Since then, Dixie is 1-2 and Cedar is 2-0.  Dixie has a tremendous passing attack with quarterback Blake Barney who leads the Region in passing yards. Cedar’s quarterback John Ursua is a flashy running quarterback who is averaging nearly 100 rushing yards per game. Barney will go over 2,000 yards in passing tonight with only 35 yards.

This game is very big with playoff births on the line. The Flyers and Redmen look to be fighting for the third seed in Region 9 though the Redmen could get as high as a two seed if they can win out. With a Flyers win and a Snow Canyon loss the playoff teams will be set and we will have the last two weeks of the season to play for seeding.
