St. George man arrested after telling police he stabbed his mother during an arguement over a cell phone

ST. GEORGE – Police arrested a 21-year-old St. George man today on charges of attempted murder after the man called police and told them he stabbed his mother with a kitchen knife.

Captain James Van Fleet said officers responded to 2500 East and 1240 South Circle at 11:05 a.m. and arrested Otis Maloney.

Van Fleet said the victim was treated by paramedics and transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

He said Maloney told officers he was arguing with his mother over a cell phone when he stabbed his mother multiple times in the upper body with a kitchen knife.

* Persons accused are presumed innocent unless found guilty in a court of law.
