ST. GEORGE – Police responded to a 911 call alerting dispatch of a “suspicious male in a car holding a gun to his head” at just after 2 p.m. today. The location was man was said to be in the vicinity of 200 East near the Temple.
Sgt. Holmes of the St. George Police Department said that it all turned out to be a false alarm. “A male was driving a car, he did have a loaded gun and he was just looking at parts of it,” said Holmes. He said that the observer who called it in mistook him examining his gun for having it held to his head.
Because of the close proximity of Dixie High School and Dixie Middle School to the vicinity of the man’s location, both of those schools were put on temporary lock-down as a precautionary measure.
