Warriors look to build off their first win

CEDAR CITY – The Snow Canyon Warriors (1-2) look to get their second straight win tonight at 7 p.m. when the travel to Cedar City against the Canyon View Falcons (2-0, 0-1) in their first Region game of the season. The Falcons are coming off their first loss last week when they got pounded by Desert Hills.

If the Warriors want to win their second straight game they are going to have to stop the Falcon rushing attack.  Canyon View has not thrown for 100 yards yet in a game this season and have only completed eight passes this season. Look for Dokota Marshall to get most of the carries for the Falcons, Marshall is averaging 53 yards per game and has found the end zone three times on the ground this year.

The Warrior defense will need to stop the run, and put pressure on the Falcon quarterbacks like they did last week against North Sanpete. The defense was led by senior defensive linemen Ben Gottfredson who forced two fumbles and recovered one of them last week. Gottfredson kept constant pressure on the North Sanpete quarterback sacking him twice and knocking him to the turf many times forcing a bunch of rushed throws and a few tipped balls.

Don’t expect much offense in this one; both teams are averaging 17 points per game this year.

Pat’s Pick: Snow Canyon

Notes: Pat’s pick went undefeated for the second week in a row and is 19-4 this season.
