ST. GEORGE – The Arizona-Utah Coalition of Local Governments will hold a public hearing on September 7 in St. George regarding withdrawal of the Arizona Strip.
The hearing will begin at 10 a.m. Mountain Time (9:00 a.m. PST) in the Washington County Administrative Building, 197 E. Tabernacle, St. George.
The hearing will be co-chaired by Arizona Supervisor Buster Johnson, representing Mohave County, and Utah Commissioner Alan Gardner, representing Washington County. The hearing officer will be attorney Fred Kelly Grant.
Testimony will be taken from all sectors of the communities, including individuals, business owners and federal, state, county and city officials.
Witnesses will testify with oral and written presentations as to the impact that will result from the Secretary of Interior’s proposal to withdraw the Arizona Strip from multiple use.
Notice of intent to testify should be given by 10 a.m. Mountain Time on September 6.
The Hearing will be broadcast live over internet streaming at Dixie State College’s website. The hearing will also be recorded for video broadcasting at a later date.
