LA VERKIN – The La Verkin Police Department arrested a fugitive today who had skipped parole and was wanted on a felony warrant by Adult Probation and Parole.
Detective Travis Romney said the man had been hiding out in La Verkin, and when officers went to serve the warrant, they found more than the fugitive.
During the arrest, officers also found heroin and drug paraphernalia belonging to two St. George women, ages 18 and 21, who were at the home. The women were arrested on 2nd degree felonies for possession.
Romney said it is not uncommon for fugitives to think they can hide in La Verkin undetected.
“A lot of people don’t realize that we’re out here and we have the capability of solving these crimes,” Romney said. “We are all trained, either in investigations, traffic or other areas. We’re here and we’re not going tolerate it anymore.”

Glad to hear that LaVerkin PD will not tolerate fugitives hiding out in their city. Maybe future fugitives shoud consider hiding out somewhere in the Arizona Strip under some sage brush or a rock. Kudos to all law enforcement in Washington County who put themselves at risk to pursue and apprehend the criminal element in this county.
