ST. GEORGE – Desert Hills High School Thunder Rugby team lost its beloved coach, Pule Misa, to cancer on August 1.  As his family grieves their loss, they are desperately left with medical bills from Misa’s battle with cancer.  He was uninsured.

The Thunder Rugby “family” of Desert Hills High School has orchestrated a fundraiser event, to take place tonight at 6 p.m. in the DHHS commons area.  The event offers a Polynesian style dinner, a sand volleyball game/tournament between DHHS and Dixie High Volleyball team, a silent auction and a benefit concert by Eric Dodge.

Tickets will be available at the door and DHHS Thunder Rugby Team treasurer, Karissa Corrigeux, said everyone is welcome. All proceeds of the event will go to the Misa family.  Admission prices are:  $8 for adults (ages 13 and up), $15 for adult couples, $20 for families (two adults and two youth), $5 for youths (ages 4-12), and free for children under age 4.

As much as a photograph of the late coach would be appropriated here, Corrigeux said that Misa was a “very shy, very quiet man.”  She said that even his wife and the Thunder Rugby team have been unsuccessful in producing a photo of him.

Nonetheless, he is etched in people’s hearts and considerable effort is going into this event tonight to celebrate him and give aid to his family.
