ST. GEORGE – Telecommunication and wireless users in St. George, Bloomington Hills and Washington Fields, and possibly others, have been experiencing service issues yesterday and today, and for some these may continue through tomorrow.

According to Aaron Gifford of Infowest, one of many internet service and wireless service providers who rely upon the Interlink networks, the problem arises from an outage on the Interlinks network. He said that Interlink had an issue with construction going on at Dixie State College campus.

“They planned a reroute of the aerial route poles to underground,” Gifford said.  “Apparently something went wrong.”

Gifford said that emergency crews are now working to reroute fiber circuits to other routes until they can get the planned reroute permanently in place.  The current disconnect impacts many ISP networks and wireless as well; the Interlink system includes long haul circuits that travel long distances.
