ST. GEORGE – A fundraiser to assist Marva Cutler will be held on Aug. 17 with a barbecue and blood drive.
Cutler’s daughter Jenny Drummond said the fundraiser will include a dunking booth, snow cones, football and prizes. Mountain America Credit Union will have its mascot, in full Eagle costume, there for the kids. The fundraiser will be held at 882 N. 3050 E. in St. George from noon to 5 p.m.
Cutler was injured June 21 after being hit by a car while going for her morning walk near her Little Valley home. Cutler was life-flighted to Las Vegas where she underwent three surgeries while there. According to her family, she is now being treated at Dixie Regional Medical Center where she recently underwent emergency gallbladder surgery. She will be having pelvis surgery this week, Drummond said.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash has been identified as 22-year-old Marilu Angel. Early on, the incident was being investigated as a hit and run; however, investigators have since learned Angel was at the scene of the accident but did not initially disclose she had been involved.
According to the St. George Police Department, search warrants and subpoenas have been ordered on records belonging to Angel to verify claims she may have been suffering from a medical condition at the time of the accident. Detectives are awaiting the outcome of the examination of records before filing charges.
Donation accounts have been set up for Cutler at Mountain America Credit Union and Zion’s Bank.
