ST. GEORGE – On Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, come aboard the Bell Tower as Mystery Dinner Theater presents its second annual benefit for the Washington County Children’s Justice Center.
“It’s an evening of fun, food, class and sophistication,” said Roger Erickson, one of the actors involved in the show.
Attendees will be treated to a cruise-themed evening of mystery, murder, and mayhem. They will also enjoy fine dining provided by Chef Randall Richards and the crew of the Painted Pony, as well as having an opportunity to interact with the cast of the theater as their comical cruise caper unfolds.
“The guests will be involved in (figuring out) who they think did it,” director Emily Holt said.
Holt and others involved remained tight-lipped on what the overall plot would involve. They want the show to be a fun-filled surprise for everyone who attends the benefit.
“The guests will not leave disappointed,” Heather Osness, another of the actresses, remarked.
The quality of the show is very professional, Holt added, and pointed out that all of the actors are local and volunteer. Some of the cast members participated in the benefit’s inaugural run last year and ,while they may not be reprising their original roles, they look forward to lending their time and talents to the cause.
Money raised by the event will go to benefit the Washington County Children’s Justice Center.
Founded in St. George in 1997, the WCCJC is a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide a safe and stable environment for children who are involved in physical and sexual abuse. Often, when a child is victimized, he or she is shuffled between different places and agencies as subjected to being interviewed multiple times by different people. The WCCJC is able to take the multiple agencies involved in investigating such crimes and put them all under one roof in a home-like facility.
The facility itself, which resembles a large home inside and out, is designed to help children feel safe and comfortable while dealing with the frightening and traumatic circumstances that have befallen them.
Indeed, Erickson put it best when he said of the Mystery Dinner, “it’s a good night for a good cause.”
The Mystery Dinner Theater benefit for the WCCJC will be held on Friday evening, August 5, at the Bell Tower located at 1386 East 100 South in St. George, starting at 6 p.m. The price of admission for the event, including dinner, is $95 per person. Dinner guests are asked to wear black and white summer sophisticated dress.
