SANTA CLARA – A 13-year-old was killed and a 14-year-old injured after being hit by a vehicle today on Santa Clara Drive.

Sgt. Dan Ferguson with the Utah Highway Patrol said a 37-year-old St. George woman was driving westbound when she either fell asleep or blacked out. St. George News does not release names of suspects until they are officially charged.

Ferguson said the girls were riding their bikes east in the westbound lane when the driver clipped the 14-year-old, knocking her off her bike, and hitting and killing the 13-year-old. The 14-year-old was treated for minor injuries.
