SPRINGDALE – A two-year-old boy is being treated at Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City after being rescued from the Virgin River near Springdale.
Chief Deputy Rob Tersigni with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said the two-year-old was camping with his family when he fell in. The boyfriend of the child’s mother jumped in to rescue the toddler, who may have been in the water for at least five minutes.
Tersigni said the child was life-flighted to Primary Children’s this evening and doctors are optimistic. The child is unconscious, but breathing on his own.
More details will be released tomorrow, Tersigni said.
