ST. GEORGE – Community members wanting to say goodbye and show their support for the Triple Deuce before they leave for their deployment can do so tonight at the Burns Arena at 6:30 p.m.

As part of the Community Covenant program, the Utah Army National Guard will be present at the event tonight as the cities of Washington and St. George sign their promise to not forget the troops while they are gone.

Performing artists for tonight’s event include Southern Utah Heritage Choir, Color Country Chorus, DSC Herald Trumpets and Dave Reber.

The event is free and everyone is encouraged to attend.

The 222nd and the 213th will be leaving for a yearlong deployment this Saturday. Community members and families are also invited to see them off at the airport at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Cedar City, and 6:30 p.m. in St. George.

Nearly 500 soldiers will be deploying. While the soldiers are serving overseas, a website has been set up so family members can post pictures and receive updates. For more information visit www. embracingourheroes.com or find them on Facebook.
