ZION NATIONAL PARK – Park officials are searching for two hikers who went missing in Zion on Saturday.

Park Spokesperson David Eaker said details are still sketchy, but the two had a day permit for Russell Gulch and the Left Fork of North Creek (The Subway). This area is located near the Kolob Terrace Road in the park approximately 15 miles north of Virgin.

“We still don’t know a whole lot,” Eaker said.

Twenty-five park rangers, park employees and volunteers are involved in the search for Evgenia Bruzulukova, 25, of Roy, and Jonathon Wilson, 28, of Portland, Ore. Crews are using the help of dog search teams and a helicopter, as well as ground search groups.

The couple’s vehicle was found by park rangers at the Left Fork of North Creek Trailhead.

The trip that they had planned involves several 100-foot rappels and swims through the Left Fork of North Creek. Streams in the area are currently running very high and cold due to runoff from snowmelt, according to a press release.

If anyone has any information concerning the missing hikers, please contact Zion National Park Dispatch at 435-772-0178.
