ST. GEORGE – Detectives with the Washington County Area Task Force arrested nine people on Sunday after a St. George police officer and a citizen called in to say there was suspicious traffic at the Motel 6.
Lt. Dave Moss said the task force set up a watch and conducted traffic stops until they had enough evidence for a search warrant. They stopped one vehicle that resulted in three arrests for possession and distribution.
Once they searched the motel room, they arrested one of the alleged dealers and two others who were inside allegedly buying drugs at the time. Moss said the dealer was in possession of marijuana, cocaine and heroin.
After conducting the search, another man phoned the room asking if there was still time to come over. Moss said the officers told the man to come over and that resulted in two more drug arrests.
While searching the room, detectives discovered the motel was in another man’s name and found two travel bags with identification in them. The officers then took the eight individuals to jail. On their way back, they noticed a man sitting on the Boulevard with the two bags that they had already searched. They stopped and called him by name and were able to eventually arrest that man on drug charges, as well.
Moss said officers also served a search warrant in Hurricane on Friday after investigating an alleged dealer for a month. That warrant resulted in three drug arrests.
