Taylor Reardon named PacWest Golfer of the Week

PHOENIX, AZ – Dixie State senior Taylor Reardon (Las, Vegas, NV/Centennial) has been chosen the Pacific West Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Wednesday, Feb. 23, for events contested Feb. 14-20.
Reardon finished tied for second out of a field of 77 golfers and led Division II Dixie State to a first-place finish at the predominantly Division I Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invite hosted by Southern Utah University.

The two-day, 36-hole tournament was played on the Par 72, 6,879-yard Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George, UT – site of the 2011 PacWest Championship in April.

Reardon turned in a five-under-par 139 over the two days, firing a 73 in the opening round and a tournament-low 66 on day two. He guided Dixie State to a 570 over the two days – five strokes ahead of Division I College of Charleston. The Red Storm beat nine Division I schools in the event.

Matt Brereton – Dixie State (So., 6-0, 155, South Jordan, UT/Bingham)…tied for 15th out of 77 golfers at the predominantly Division I Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invite hosted by Southern Utah University Feb. 14-15…two-day, 36-hole tournament was played on the Par 72, 6,879-yard Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George,UT…turned in a one-over-par 145, posting a 72 in the opening round and a 73 in the second round…did not score for Dixie State…competed as an independent…was first among the 17 independent entries in the tournament.

Kyle Chappell – Dixie State
(Jr., 5-10, 155, Richfield, UT/Richfield)…tied for fourth out of 77 golfers and helped Dixie State to a first-place finish at the predominantly Division I Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invite hosted by Southern Utah University on Feb. 14-15…the twoday, 36-hole tournament was played on the Par 72, 6,879-yard Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George, UT -site of the 2011 PacWest Championship in April…turned in a two-under-par 142 over the two days, firing a 69 in the opening round and a 73 on day two…helped Dixie State to a 570 over the two days – five strokes ahead of Division I College of Charleston…Red Storm beat nine Division I teams in the event.

Nick Drost – Dixie State
(So., 6-2, 160, Salt Lake city, UT/Brighton)…tied for seventh out of 77 golfers and helped Dixie State to a first-place finish at the predominantly Division I Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invite hosted by Southern Utah University on Feb. 14-15…two-day, 36-hole tournament was played on the Par 72, 6,879-yard Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George, UT – site of the 2011 PacWest Championship in April…turned in a oneunder- par 143, scoring a 71 in the opening round and a 72 on day two…helped Dixie State to a 570 over the two days – five strokes ahead of runner-up Division I College of Charleston…Red Storm beat nine Division I teams in the event.

Connor Jones – Dixie State (Sr., 5-11, 140, South\ Jordan, UT/Bingham)…finished fourth among Red Storm competitors and tied for 23rd overall during the predominantly Division I Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invite hosted by Southern Utah University Feb. 14-15…field featured 77 players competing over two days in the 36- hole tournament…event was held on the Par 72, 6,879- yard Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George, UT – site of the 2011 PacWest Championship in April…turned in a twoover- par 146, carding a 72 in the opening round and a 74 on day two…helped Dixie State to a 570 over the two days and a first-place finish…Red Storm beat Division I College of Charleston by five strokes and outdistanced nine Division I programs in the event.
