‘Dealing with Difficult People’ Topic of Dixie Forum

ST. GEORGE – Dixie State College’s weekly noontime “Dixie Forum: A Window on the World” forum will unveil the secrets of “Dealing with Difficult People,” as presented by DSC assistant professor Dr. Sandy Peterson on Tuesday, March 1st, at 12 noon, in the Dunford Auditorium of the Browning Resource Center on the DSC campus. Admission is free for all community members, DSC students, and faculty and staff.

Peterson will discuss how everyone has had a difficult person or two in his or her life, whether at home, at school, or at work, and how should people interact with these individuals in ways that are effective. Peterson’s presentation will explain a little more about those who make life difficult, what makes them tick, and how we can change our own behavior to discourage their bad behavior.

Petersen is a former assistant superintendent from the Davis County School District and a certified negotiator who has taken negotiation and interest-based facilitation classes at Harvard Business School. She has facilitated school district teams in contract negotiations and served as a grievance mediator, and as the mother of eight, she has had a lot of practice in dealing with difficult people.

The Dixie Forum will continue each Tuesday through the rest of the spring semester. Upcoming guest speakers include Reverend France Davis of Salt Lake City’s Calvary Mission Baptist Church, who will share his presentation entitled “Literary Heritage of African-Americans” on March 8.
