Dixie State College Staff Member Named to AAEE National Post

ST. GEORGE – Dixie State College of Utah Career Center and Employment Services director Kathy Kinney has been selected to serve as a board member of the American Association for Employment in Education (AAEE). She will represent DSC at the AAEE annual Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) meeting in Washington, D.C., this upcoming April.

Kinney has served on four AAEE conference planning committees, including the 2004 national conference held in Salt Lake City, and is a previous workshop presenter. In addition, Kinney has served on the Utah Association for Employment in Education (UAEE) senate and was elected to a two-year term as association president. In 2007, Kinney was honored as the recipient of the AAEE Outstanding New Member in Career Services Award.

AAEE is one of the founding member associations of CAS. At the annual meeting, representatives engage in a thoughtful and detailed consensus process to develop and improve new CAS standards or revise existing standards. Dixie State College student affairs use the CAS standards for evaluation and assessment of programs in place, for program enhancement and for reference when developing new programs.

AAEE is the premiere organization for educational staffing statistics. AAEE information is used nationally, quoted in textbooks, magazine articles and newspapers. For more information on AAEE, visit the organization’s website at “www.aaee.org.”
