DSC to Present Chamber Singers Concert

ST. GEORGE – Dixie State College of Utah’s Chamber Choir will perform a free concert on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 7:30 p.m., at the DSC Dolores Dore’ Eccles Fine Arts Center Concert Hall.

The Chamber Choir, under the direction of Dr. Robert Briggs, will repeat its program the ensemble performed recently at the annual Music Educator’s National Convention (MENC) Utah Chapter (UMEA) meetings held earlier this month in St. George. DSC’s Chamber Choir was the only collegiate choir selected to perform at the convention.

The program will feature 13 songs composed between 2000-10, and will include early American Folk tunes, blue grass, sacred music and storytelling pieces.

“Our goal in planning the concert for the convention was to put together a synergy of beautiful music with emotionally charged poetry,” Dr. Briggs said. “All the pieces will include feature several instrumental soloists. I feel this combination will result in some of the most beautiful choral music we have ever presented.
