ST. GEORGE — Hayden Farley was pursuing his life-long dream of becoming a professional golfer when his life changed with the onset of multiple sclerosis. No longer able to grip a golf club at times, he lost his scholarship at University of Hawaii and realized he had to devise a different plan for his life’s work. He is one of the deserving students receiving scholarship aid from funds raised by the Foundation of Dixie State College Fire & Ice Gala.  These funds are helping Hayden start a new career path while attending Dixie State College.

Every year for the last seven years, the Foundation of Dixie State College has hosted Fire & Ice, a gala featuring fine dining, auctions, and fun, to raise money in support of need-based students at the college. This year, the need for student financial aid has never been greater. In this special year celebrating 100 years of Dixie State College, Fire & Ice is a unique opportunity to demonstrate that one of this community’s priorities is educating the next generation.  Their goal is to raise enough money to assist 100 needs based students attend Dixie State College through scholarships.
This year’s event will take place March 4, at 6 pm in the Sun River Clubhouse. The public is welcome. Call Marilyn Lamoreaux at 652-7502 to reserve the hottest ticket in town.
