DSC percussion ensemble to make debut concert Dec. 8

ST. GEORGE – The Dixie State College Percussion Ensemble makes its 2010-11 debut with a special concert event on Wednesday, December 8, at 7:30 p.m., at the DSC Dolores Dore’ Eccles Fine Arts Center Mainstage Theater.

The concert will begin with Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Colgrass’ composition Three Brothers. Swirling harmonies and new age-tinged Rainbows will follow featuring the entire range of melodic percussion instruments. The ten-member group will employ the full spectrum of percussion timbre on the musical works Celestial Welcome by Karen McGuire, and the premiere of Jabulani by the group’s director, DSC Music Department Chair Glenn Webb.

General admission tickets will be available at the door for $5 for adults and $1 for DSC students and faculty and staff with current ID.
