Protecting your skin from harsh winters, skin cancer

We change our wardrobe, winterize our cars and homes, and yet pay no attention to our skin.

The winter conditions, though not as extreme as in Northern Utah, still reek havoc on complacent smiling faces. It's all about protection and comfort. Nobody likes to chap, crack, bleed or resemble sandpaper.

The wind and cold cause accelerated moisture evaporation, so in the winter we have to double up the moisturizer.

Try including an emollient that locks in moisture while softening the skin. Whether you are shopping or skiing, SPF 25+ is a critical component of a healthy skin care regime.

Free radicals that cause aging and cancer are attacking constantly and some people have better protection on their Mac than their face. Stay safe with sun protection and you have found a preventative cure for skin cancer.

Keep those lips kissable with a chap stick with SPF. Some lip glosses now have SPF so you don't have to sacrifice on fashion.

Check your face for changes in beauty including peeling, dry spots, over production of oil (to compensate for once dry spots) and with a few quick changes in skin care, you will have radiant skin year round.
