Wendy Holt brings home the Bronze at Senior Games

It’s an old axiom; work hard and you’ll be rewarded. That was true for  Wendy Holt of St. George who took home two Bronze medals in the Archery 3-D and Target Archery competition at the Huntsman World Senior Games on October 5 and 8.

“We had double the participants in Archery this year. The 'target' setting in Mathis Park had a beautiful backdrop of Pine Valley Mountain. It really wowed all of the shooters from out of the area. It was a great event; I will be back,” Holt said.

The Huntsman World Senior Games is a world-class, Olympic-format, international sporting event for athletes ages 50 years and older. Founded more than 24 years ago, the Games currently hosts over 10,000 athletes annually.  Each October, for two weeks, the event is held in colorful St. George, less than a two-hour drive from Las Vegas.  At the 2010 Games, athletes will compete in 27 different sports and will host participants from all 50 of the United States and over 25 foreign countries.

“One of the things that makes this event so unique is that it is more than just a collection of sporting events,” said Kyle Case, Huntsman World Senior Games CEO. “The Games is a total experience, so much more than just another sports competition.”

The participants enjoy the Parade of Athletes, Opening Ceremonies, Concert and Celebration, Social Events, Banquets and Free Health Screenings, to name only a few of the additional activities that enhance the athletic experience.

“We’d like to invite athletes of all skill levels, from the elite to the novice, to experience this amazing event,” said Case.  “Once you experience the Games, we know you’ll have a great time and we’ll be seeing you for years to come.”
