ST. GEORGE – Four students in Dixie State College of Utah’s criminal justice program were presented awards last week for their efforts in the classroom. Assistant professor of criminal justice Scott Julian, along with Washington County Sheriff Kirk Smith presented the awards at a ceremony held at the Washington County Sherriff’s Department offices.

The Outstanding Criminal Justice Student awards that were presented, as part of the DSC/Southern Utah University criminal justice partnership, consisted of a judges’ gavel for first prize and medallions for second and third places. Danay Stucki, a senior from St. George, was awarded the gavel in the Criminal Justice Management category; with Scott Colon, a senior from Santa Ana, Calif., and Gary Bagley, a senior from Vista, Calif., each placing second; and Stacey Collins, a senior from St. George, taking third.
