Volleyball power house Snow Canyon was at it again tonight as they took on fellow Region 9 opponent Hurricane. The Warriors were firing on all cylinders as they beat the Tigers in straight sets 25-9, 25-12, 25-13.
Snow Canyon returns most of its state championship team from last year, only losing Jamaica Alisa to graduation. Alisa is now playing for the Aggies of Utah State.
The Warriors were led by last year's 4A player of the year, Ciara Parker who had 31 assists and six kills on the night. Senior Taylor Murphey was also key in the win with 13 kills. Sophomore McKenzie Willey had 12 kills to help the Warriors win their home opener for the 2010 season.
Snow Canyon is riding a four-year state championship streak and their goal is to win a fifth. They are currently 7-0, including winning the prestigious Rocky Mountain Classic earlier in the season. The Warriors beat 5A perennial power Pleasant Grove in the finals.
The No. 1 ranked Warriors will face Cedar next Tuesday in Cedar.
