ST. GEORGE – Mayor Dan McArthur will be featured in the "Why I Believe fireside series Sunday, September 19 at 7 p.m. This evening program is free and the public is invited.
McArthur is a native of St. George and is proud to be named after, and descended from, one of the original pioneers called by Brigham Young to settle St. George, his great-grandfather, Daniel D. McArthur.
He graduated from Dixie College and earned his bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Technology from Brigham Young University in 1973. Following graduation, he joined the family business, McArthur Welding, and now serves as President and Chief Executive Officer.
He served as a Scout Master and Explorer leader for many years. He has also served as a Missionary in Guatemala, Bishop, High Councilman and many other leadership positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is now serving as Executive Secretary.
In addition to being the Mayor of St. George since 1994, he has had many civic leadership positions which include past President of the Utah League of Cities and Towns, a member and past President of the St. George Rotary Club, and Chairman of the St. George Downtown Redevelopment District.
