ST. GEORGE – Dixie State College's Hansen Stadium will be temporarily closed to the public over the next three weeks as the Stadium's football and soccer playing surface will be receiving a much-needed facelift. Starting this Monday, Sept. 13, crews will begin installing of a new football and soccer field-turf surface, which will replace the current artificial surface that has served as Dixie's home turf since 2004
According to DSC Director of Facilities Planning Jon Gibb, the installation will take place during the late evening and early morning hours, which will require the stadium lights to be on during that time. Gibb added that because of the nature of the renovation project, DSC officials decided to close the facility, including the track, until the installation is completed.
Dixie State's final home football game on the current surface will take place this Saturday night vs. Humboldt State at 7 p.m. Following the HSU game, the Red Storm football team embarks on a two-game road swing at Central Washington (Sept. 18) and Simon Fraser (Oct. 2), with a bye week sandwiched in between the two games. Meanwhile, the DSC women's soccer home match vs. CWU scheduled for this Monday, Sept. 13, will be played at Dixie High School beginning at 7 p.m. Additional DSC men's and women's soccer matches scheduled for Sept. 30 and Oct. 2, will also be relocated. When completed, Dixie State's new football and soccer field will be ready for action in time for Homecoming Week on Oct. 4-9, including a pair of Red Storm men's and women's soccer doubleheaders against BYU-Hawai'i at Hansen Stadium Oct. 5 and Oct. 7, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Dixie State's Homecoming Football Game vs. Western Oregon will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, with kick-off slated for 1 p.m.
