Dixie State calls for centennial Homecoming parade entries

ST. GEORGE –  "Hurrah For Dixie" is the theme for the Dixie State College of Utah's 2010 Centennial Homecoming Week, which runs October 4-9, with a number of campus events that both campus and Washington Counties communities are invited to participate in.

One of the many Dixie Homecoming traditions is the annual parade, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9. Line-up for the parade beginning at 9 a.m., while the parade itself will start at 10 a.m. This year's Centennial Parade will follow a new route, traveling east on 100 South to 700 East, then turning right and finishing at Hansen Stadium, which is the site of DSC's annual Homecoming Tailgate Party starting at 11:30 a.m., followed by the kick-off of Dixie's Homecoming football game vs. Western Oregon at 1 p.m.

This year's parade promises to be the biggest and best parade in school history as DSC officials are hoping to feature 100 or more entries, including over 20 high school marching bands from Washington County and across the state, to commemorate Dixie's Centennial Year.

Individuals or companies wishing to place entries in the parade are asked to contact DSC director of student activities Donna Stafford at 435-652-7513, or by email at [email protected].
