ST. GEORGE – Similar to wandering behaviors in seniors with Alzheimer’s or dementia, children with Autism are prone to wandering away from a safe environment. Unfortunately, many cases end in tragedy.
A “Ride & Cruise” event will be held Nov. 1 as a fundraiser for the Southern Utah Autism Support Group and Project Lifesaver. Southern Utah Autism Support Group is a nonprofit organization partnering with the St. George Police Department in providing and funding for individuals with autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, Alzheimer’s and dementia. Details of the “Ride & Cruise” are included in the flier below:
One-half of funds raised will go toward providing tracking devices through Project Lifesaver for individuals and their families. This project will provide much relief to families of those who wander or elope.
It costs $200 to provide one tracking device for a child with autism or Down syndrome. The monthly fee per individual on the program is $25 for battery and band maintenance. 50 percent of your donation will go toward Project Lifesaver and 50 percent toward Southern Utah Autism Support Group’s general project in providing support and resources to help and strengthen families of persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Related Conditions in Southern Utah.
Thank you for your donation and participation in the event.
