HURRICANE – A yard and bake sale fundraiser is being held for the family of Jared Boren, a 3-year-old preschool student at LaVerkin Elementary who died Wednesday of complications due to spinal meningitis.
The fundraiser will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Hurricane Valley Eye Care parking lot, 20 S. 850 W., Hurricane.
Proceeds from the event will go directly to Boren’s family.
About Jared Boren
Boren was a preschooler at LaVerkin Elementary school. He was flown by helicopter May 4 to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City with a bacterial spinal meningitis. Boren quickly developed an infection in his brain and over the course of a few days the antibiotics stopped working.
The infection was too much and he had severe brain damage. The prognosis and his quality of life would be very poor if he did survive the infection. Boren died Wednesday afternoon surrounded by his family. He was a little boy who was full of energy and love. He was always on the go and full of excitement. Boren was the youngest of four kids to Kevin and Christine Boren. He will be greatly missed.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help with the medical and funeral expenses.
Ed. note: When making charitable contributions it is advisable to consult with professionals for tax advice and investment risks.
