LaRee Pollock

June 8, 1926 – June 30, 2018

LaRee Laub Pollock, 92, passed away June 30, 2018, in St. George, Utah. She was born June 8, 1926, in Enterprise, Utah, to Milton and Luella Laub.

LaRee was raised in a very loving family with six brothers and one sister, Ruby, with whom she was very close. They had a happy but adventurous childhood. Growing up during the Great Depression, her family lived in California, Arizona, Ogden, Utah, and Enterprise while her father sought employment.

Living through World War II was a hard time, as she lost one of her two brothers that served. During the war she worked as an aide at the Cedar Hospital. There she met a returning soldier, Keith Pollock. They were married Sept. 23, 1947, in the St. George temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and made their home in Kanarraville, Utah. There they had five children: Brenda, Sandra, Charlene, Debbie and finally a boy, Merril.

When the coal mines closed down in Cedar Canyon, they moved to Las Vegas for a short time and then were able to move back to her beloved home, Enterprise.

After her children were older, LaRee started work as a reading aide and then in special education at Enterprise Elementary. She loved those children. She retired after 25 years of touching so many young lives.

LaRee loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was very active in the LDS church and had an unwavering testimony right to the end. One of her goals was to be able to serve in the church and endure well to the end, which she did, even attending the temple until she was 90. She also served in every organization a woman could, multiple times.

LaRee was a wonderful, devoted and selfless mother to her five children. She was a blessing in their lives as well as her extended family, always giving and caring about everyone. She was positive and loved all of God’s beautiful world. Because of her kind niece, Diane Munford, she was able to travel all over the world and could be heard often saying, “I’m just filling up on scenery!”

LaRee was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith; four brothers: Faye, Merril, Normand and John; sister, Ruby Stewart; daughter, Sandra; son-in-law, Bruce Hunt; and grandsons: Bryson and Tyler Hunt; great-grandson, Jesse Bracken; and son-in-law, Clint Holt.

LaRee’s legacy will live on through her remaining children: Brenda, Charlene (Lee) Bracken, Debbie Holt and Merril (Glenda), all of Enterprise; 21 grandchildren; and 59½ great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give a big thank you to all the employees at the Beehive Home on Mesa Palms Drive in St. George and the hospice staff at Applegate for all the love and special care they gave our mother during these last few weeks and months.
