WASHINGTON CITY — Brigham’s Playhouse, a Southern Utah leader in live theater, is excited to announce its special 2018 Summer Series begins Thursday with “Seussical Jr.” live on stage at its intimate, indoor theater in Washington City. This limited engagement show features Brigham’s 2018 Summer Camp kids.
This a great production for both children and adults alike. After all, who can resist a … Who?!
“Seussical” is the musical and book by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. It is based on the children’s stories of Dr. Seuss, primarily “Horton Hears a Who.“
This wacky, fun musical will transport audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, and the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos.
Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.
This stage version of Dr. Seuss’s stories captures the talents of an amazing, all-kids cast where anything is possible. Performances will run Thursdays through Saturdays at 7 p.m., with matinee performances at 2 p.m. on Saturdays, June 28-July 14.
The show is not part of the regular Brigham’s Playhouse season but is a junior show in its 2018 Summer Season series. Tickets for all performances are just $12, all ages. You can purchase tickets on the Brigham’s Playhouse website, by phone at 435-251-8000 or by visiting the box office at the playhouse located at 25 N. 300 West in Washington City.
