HURRICANE – Westbound traffic on State Street through Hurricane was reduced to a crawl late Wednesday morning due to a left-turn collision at the 1150 West intersection.
Units with the Hurricane City Police and Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue responded to the report of a collision at the intersection shortly after 11 a.m. What they found were two passenger cars that had their left-front sides smashed in.
The driver of a Nissan Altima was eastbound on State Street and attempted to make a left turn onto 1150 West. At the same time a westbound Chevrolet passenger car that had entered the intersection collided with the Nissan, Hurricane City Police officer Ken Thompson said.
No one was injured in the incident, but the Chevrolet and Nissan had to be towed away.
The driver of the Nissan was cited for failure to yield, Thompson said.
The area around the crash was impacted for about 30 minutes as officers and others worked to clear the scene.
This report is based on statements from emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
