Dr. James Swensen, an associate professor of art history and the history of photography at Brigham Young University, will present the lecture at on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Sears Art Museum Gallery, located in the Dolores Doré Eccles Fine Arts Center on the Dixie State campus, 225 S. 700 East, St George.

During his presentation, Swensen will investigate the ways in which Lindstrom found a synthesis between the divergent ideas of realism and abstraction. Lindstrom struck this balance after studying at the University of Utah under George Dibble, who embraced abstraction and a modernist technique, and LeConte Stewart, who believed in realism and a more conservative approach to painting.

Showcasing a variety of works by the artist who mastered a variety of mediums but is best known for his watercolors, “Lindstrom” features pieces completed throughout the artist’s seven-decade long career.
