Letter to the Editor: EPA’s overreach into Utah, solid waste amendments

OPINION – It seems to me that this is another example of Federal Government overreach.  The Environmental Protection Agency isn’t Congress but a bureaucracy. 

It appears that the EPA maintains control over Utah’s governance of solid waste by the carrot and stick method.

The (sic) say that the proposed amendment might jeopardize grants to the state.  In other words they told Governor Herbert that if that amendment were to go into effect, the state would lose some federal grants.

It is a shame that the agencies of the Federal Government can take our money and then withhold returning some of it as a threat if we don’t do just what they say.
