Letter to the Editor: Reaction to DOJ decision about Hillary Clinton emails

OPINION – My thoughts for the evening of Nov. 6, 2016.

As I sit here listening to the recent news that our illicit former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton has once again been removed from an obviously unscrupulous Justice Department’s legal charges, it causes an anger not found in one’s soul very often because of such obvious deceit in our system.

How far does this ludicrous, illicit and wrongful extortion go in our government?  Is the entire White House part of this criminal usage of the taxpayer funds and misuse of federal resources for the benefit of the few in the lofty Democratic Party?

This entire year has been scandal after scandal of a candidate that should not even be eligible for a security clearance at any level and she is running for the office of president of the United States.

If I could resolve how middle class America could effectively show our resentment of this unforgivable criminal situation like other other factions in America seem to succeed at, I would send it to the world.

Yet, we are the steadfast unwavering workers that support those who cannot work, will not work or are state and government workers within our government system and benefit from this exploitation of the American workers. The heartland of America will be the ones stripped of their beloved America with our constitutional rights from our forefathers’ belief and unwavering efforts for freedom and self-support being  diminished slowly for the significant few.

I barely drink and by gosh I am going to get a glass of wine and kiss our beloved hopes and dreams in America goodbye.

With great and deep regrets,

Annabel Curtis, common citizen of the previously most wonderful country in the world, as we knew it; St. George.

The author should find some comfort in the fact that the R party isn’t any better in any way. the globalists control it all, and most likely your vote doesn’t matter in the least, so as bad as hillary is find peace knowing that they are all that bad or worse. 😉

    • Bob November 7, 2016 at 12:51 pm

and have a look at old vids of trump praising hillary, and know that in real life they are good friends of the same globalist club. cheers 😉

There’s also videos of Ronald Reagan (I know, your favorite guy LOL) as a Democrat and Labor Union President. People can change.

Having a pity party has zero chance of changing anything. Why not try something that at least has a chance of making a positive change?

As the country races to the finish line marked by the November 8 election day, media pundits, pollsters and operatives for both the Democratic and Republican parties appear to have overlooked a secret weapon about to be unleashed. That weapon, which will appear at the polls, is the army of enthusiastic gun owners found everywhere, but particularly in the swing states.

These aren’t the flannel-clad coterie of hunters who traditionally lean to the right, but who tend to be almost blase about the outcome of elections, believing that their hunting guns won’t attract the attention of the Clinton gun-ban machine she has promised to unleash. (They may want to research the “Australian model” Hillary Clinton said we should consider for the United States, where hunters’ semi-automatic rifles, pistols, and their pump-action “hunting” shotguns were confiscated from law-abiding citizens who faced prison if they didn’t “voluntarily” turn in their guns.) No, this army of gun owners is something new, something younger, something unrecognizable to Democrats, and it’s very much motivated to preserve the right to have guns for personal safety.

Ah. There it is. Personal safety. Not hunting. Not target shooting. Not collecting. More than twelve million Americans have jumped through the hoops and paid the money to get carry permits, and all reports show that fully a third of those getting those permits are women. Yes, women. Carrying guns. To protect themselves and their children. The motivation is as personal as it gets — to stay alive and protect offspring, because these women know that the police will not be there when they need them. The assault, abduction, or whatever, will be over before the police arrive.

When Mrs. Clinton says “The Supreme Court got it wrong” on the Second Amendment, she’s talking about the Heller decision, which confirmed there is an individual right to own a gun. Prior to that, it was the position of the U.S. Justice Department that no person has a right to own a gun. Rather, DOJ argued in various cases, that right is reserved to the government.

Mrs. Clinton has made gun control and gun bans a center point of her campaign, and has even teased the idea of wide-scale confiscation, a la Australia. Imagine the reactions of those who are called “gun owner 2.0” to attempts to disarm mothers committed to protecting their families. In several of the swing states, gun ownership rates remain high, as are the number of carry permits, and in some, no permit at all is required to carry a firearm for protection.

Traditionally, gun owners don’t poll well. Over the last two decades, pollsters badly undercounted the conviction of gun owners who vote to protect their individual right to own and carry guns.

Gun owners do, however, understand that when Hillary says she doesn’t want to “do away” with the Second Amendment, that the careful Clinton parsing of words continues. Her calls for the repeal of the Protection of Lawful Commerce In Arms Act (PLCAA) is, in fact, a nuclear attack on the Second Amendment. That law was passed by Congress in response to a Clinton White House-led effort to destroy all gun companies in the United States. The method was to sue the companies for the misuse, by a third party, of legally-produced, nondefective, high-regulated products. Had a single one of the more than 30 lawsuits filed by various cities succeeded, all gun makers would have shut their doors. No company would have been able to get insurance against claims hoping to hold them responsible for the illegal misuse of their products. (Think of holding Ford responsible for the costs of drunken driving.)

Because she was at the center of this scorched-Earth assault on legal firearms ownership 22 years ago, Mrs. Clinton clearly understands the repeal of PLCAA would be the end of firearms manufacturing in the United States. Gun owners understand this, as well.

Swing states Florida, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida have high rates of gun ownership. They have hundreds of thousands, or in the case of Florida, more than a million, people with carry permits.

These are people motivated by the safety of themselves and their families. Women who have decided to stand up for themselves and not be victims. Young adults who make up the gun owner 2.0 population.

Emails and vulgar language pale in significance to the prospect of keeping one’s family safe. These are the millions of voters who may well have been ignored by pollsters who haven’t seen the wave of “guntry clubs” being built, the families shooting together, the women taking advanced classes in personal protection and gun fighting.

These are the men and women of Donald Trump’s silent, armed, army. They will vote. They will act to retain control of their own safety.

Bravo, UtahGuns. We need intelligent life in DC, particularly in the White House. Hildy has proven herself to be a shill of questionable repute.

  • dhamilton2002 November 7, 2016 at 8:29 pm

Maybe the commentators Annabel and Utahguns need a dose of reality. Hillary Clinton is going to win. She is not the devil nor does she want any more restrictions on guns than 90% of the rational NRA members want. Annabel if this country is going to be such a horrible place you are free to move out. Go ahead, find another country with our freedoms and gives you the right to bitch about what you don’t like. Grow up, both of you.

    • Utahguns November 8, 2016 at 7:25 am

I’m surprised that I’m even taking the time to respond to your narrow view….

Clinton’s agenda echoes the liberal progressive philosophies which are eroding this country.

….Free handouts for more takers, more government control, illegal immigration and more restrictions on our free enterprise system.

Your statement about “nor does she want any more restrictions on guns than 90% of the rational NRA members want” is a complete fallacy. If she honestly felt this way about gun owners and wanted to protect the Second Amendment, then the NRA would have endorsed her. Definitely not the case.

Nobody in the media has said that they will move out of the country if she’s elected….those statements about leaving America comes from liberals who don’t want Trump elected. So who’s being brave here?

There’s a position with the conservative movement that we fight to maintain our freedoms and protect this country and the Constitution. We don’t run away.
We don’t stomp on the American Flag. We don’t burn down our neighborhoods. We don’t kill our police officers. We don’t make deals with hostile countries. We don’t compromise our national security.

      Think about your statements.

And by the way, if you ever need the services of law enforcement, I’m sure you can find the phone number for Black Lives Matter, Occupy Wall Street or Acorn available to respond to your aid.

You sound like a guy who is more than a little insecure about his own masculinity. Maybe, your “gun” does not work.

        • Utahguns November 8, 2016 at 2:24 pm

Sorry you took my comment as one who may be lacking in masculinity. That’s to be expected from the eye of the beholder who was most likely potty trained with a whip.

          • RealMcCoy November 8, 2016 at 3:49 pm

You assume he is potty trained…

Hillary Clinton has not committed ANY crime. The FBI director is clearly pro-Trump to even release a letter to congress with 11 days before the election. Then he writes another on two days before the election that essentially says, Never mind. Hillary Clinton is the most qualified person on the ballot. She was a first lady, senator, and Secretary of State. Trump has ZERO experience. Hillary has provided funds for the first responders after 9-11 . That fund continues to this day. She has travelled more miles then any Secretary of State and negotiated for the well being of this country countless times. Trump was too busy grabbing p%&% to pay attention to anybody other then himself. Trump complains a lot, but offers no solutions. Look at the websites of the two candidate. Trump discusses 8 topics and possible solutions. Hillary has over 30 !

Guns? When has Obama taken away any guns ? We want to keep guns in the hands of responsible people. People who are listed at terrorists should not get guns, but they do. People who have a history of incarceration for violent crimes should not get guns, but they do. People with significant mental illness should not have guns, but they do. And you wonder why we have so many church, school, and public shootings ? My dad had weapons. He taught us all how to use them safely. But this is not the case with everybody. Stricter background checks are needed. If you are a responsible gun owner, what do you have to hide ?

    • Henry November 8, 2016 at 1:16 pm

Utahguns already thoroughly addressed the gun control issue. The effect of additional laws to restrict gun access will only be upon law abiding citizens; criminals will still be able to obtain guns illegally.

Your Hillary-Trump comparison was effectively addressed by Dr Thomas Sowell:

“Those of us who have been disgusted by some of the things that Donald Trump has said and done need to face the fact that he is not running against Mother Teresa. His sins have been matched and exceeded by Hillary Clinton and her husband.

As for accomplishments, Trump has none in politics, and business accomplishments do not automatically transfer into government.
Hillary Clinton has been in politics for decades. But does she have even a single serious accomplishment to show for it? In the Senate, she accomplished nothing, and as Secretary of State far worse than nothing.
Secretary Clinton carried out the foreign policy that destroyed two governments of countries which posed no threat whatever to America or to American interests in the Middle East. Each country is now moving in the direction of one of our two most dangerous enemies, Iran and Russia.
Egypt is now planning joint military exercises with Russian forces. Libya has already seen the rise of Islamic terrorists who killed the American ambassador whom the Clinton State Department refused to provide the security he asked for repeatedly….

Hillary Clinton…. having spent decades in the political limelight, is far more experienced at concealing her ruthless and cunning contempt for anything and anybody that gets in the way of her personal enrichment and power. That includes contempt for the law.

Long before her e-mails became an issue, Mrs. Clinton was evading subpoenas for records she had somehow “lost” in the White House when she was first lady. Both she and her husband perfected the tactic of stalling and stalling, until enough time had passed that they could say that an issue was now “old news” and that it was time to “move on.”

The issue before the voters, however, is not which of the two is the worse person. The issue is which is more dangerous to the future of America. Nor is this just a question of what will happen in the next four years. Whoever becomes President of the United States can appoint Supreme Court justices able to destroy the Constitution by “interpreting” its protections of freedom out of existence — not just for the next four years, but thereafter.

Hillary Clinton is already on record as wanting a Supreme Court that will overturn recent decisions protecting free speech and upholding the right to bear arms. Everything in her past shows a contempt for law that makes her a very credible threat to dismantle the Constitution, whenever it gets in the way of her agenda. All it takes is a Senate controlled by fellow Democrats to let a President Clinton’s judicial nominees be confirmed automatically, no matter how little regard for the Constitution those nominees have demonstrated.

Donald Trump shows no such ideological agenda and has no such automatic support from Congressional Republicans as to have them rubber stamp either his judicial nominees or whatever other agenda he has. More than that, Trump can be impeached if he oversteps the bounds, without either the Republicans or the media screaming loud protests.”

    • RealMcCoy November 8, 2016 at 3:55 pm

Well now that we know you were voting for Killary anyways, no one is going to feel bad that you couldn’t stand in line long enough to vote.
      Hahahaha…

Your comments on guns, gun laws, and criminals getting guns are ludicrous. All of those people are already banned from having guns. More laws won’t change that.
“And you wonder why we have so many church, school, and public shootings ?”
That’s easy- it’s because those are all ‘gun free zones’. Letting the responsible people defend themselves from those criminals is what makes a better deterrent.

  • peanutz714 November 8, 2016 at 3:35 pm

First of all, I live in a country where a person is considered innocent until proven guilty. She has been found guilty of NOTHING. She has been investigated EIGHT TIMES by GOP led investigators at a cost of MILLIONS of taxpayer money. They found NOTHING. Believe you me, they tried and nothing was illegal. Emails ? This was looked into by the FBI more then once and NOTHING. She is not above the law, but she has done nothing to break it. She has made mistakes , no doubt. But she is not the monster that Trump and the GOP makes her out to be. As for accomplishments, she was a first lady who attempted to address healthcare. As a senator, she was the one who provided first responders with the care they need. That funding is still in place today. As Secretary of State, she has addressed our foreign issues with numerous treaties, etc. Trump has done nothing. Held no elected office. Knows nothing of holding a public office. Has NEVER put a bill before Congress. Ever read a bill in its entirety. He is supported by the KKK and Nazi’s. He makes fun of people with disabilities or others who have a different religion or skin color. He has no right to hold office. In regards to the Supreme Court, Hillary believes in naming qualified people to the bench, not obstructing nominees.
