Utah Retirement Systems elects new board president

ST. GEORGE – Soltis Investment Advisors’ William (Bill) Wallace has been elected to serve as president of the Utah Retirement System’s  board for the 2017 term.

The Retirement System, founded in 1910 as the “Teachers’ Retirement System,” serves Utah public employees with retirement and insurance benefits. It currently serves almost 209,000 employees and manages more than $29 billion in assets. Wallace has served on the Board, which is appointed by the Governor, since 2013.

“It’s an honor to serve the state of Utah and the thousands of people who depend on the URS for their retirement income,” Wallace said in a press release. “Retirement issues have become increasingly important and the URS Board has a long tradition of addressing the challenges, meeting regulatory requirements and maintaining the trust of the participants.”

Soltis Investment Advisors, which has been included on the Financial Times 401 list of top retirement plan advisors, serves as a plan fiduciary under ERISA 3(21) and 3(38). It also provides investment management, plan design, plan benchmarking and participant education and communication and financial wellness programs. Wallace, formerly director of Investment Research and Strategic Development was recently named co-chief Investment Officer, joining president and CEO Hal Anderson in that capacity. Since joining the firm in 2014, Wallace has been actively involved in developing and implementing investment strategies on behalf of Soltis’ individual and institutional clients.

Prior to joining Soltis, Wallace was senior vice president and regional portfolio manager at Key Private Bank.  His investment career spans 30 years where he managed investment portfolios for private clients, corporations, foundations and endowments.

Wallace holds both a Bachelor of Science in economics and Master of Economics from the University of Utah. He completed his CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation in 1996 through the CFA Institute.
