Letter to the Editor – County commissioners support Ipson

OPINION — We write this letter in support of Don Ipson. Don has always been community-minded and ready to help with projects for the betterment of others, whether it has been with the Lions Club, community or church, he has been supportive with both his time and dollars.

He has served Washington County well as a State Representative. As such he sponsored legislation to advance Dixie State to University status. He was instrumental in obtaining funding for the new DXATC campus being built at the old airport site, which is critical in training and certifying jobs in industry.

Don is a big supporter of public education and has helped in the legislature to provide nearly $1 billion over the last two sessions. As a longtime successful businessman, he understands the challenges that business owners in our county face. He has been very responsive to the needs of Washington County.

Don will equally represent us as a State Senator. We encourage you to vote for him.

I don’t have a problem with commissioners as individuals endorsing a candidate. I hope the letter was not written as an endorsement by the County Commission. A Govt entity has no business endorsing a candidate.

You’d be tired and disgusted if Hildy, the beast, came to Utah to run for the democrat party chair. Face it, you are tired and disgusting.

The righties must be worried about Dorothy Engleman. She actually has fresh ideas and new approaches to the problems facing the citizens of Utah!

Ipson and his ilk have been listening to their own echos inside the Republican bubble for so long that they have no concept of doing anything other than balancing the budget, preventing healthcare for the disadvantaged, cutting taxes on the wealthy, undoing environmental protections, and selling Utah to the highest bidder. I almost forgot… growth, growth, growth, and let the middle class pay the infrastructure costs so that the developer-class can get even wealthier. Shh, you can hear them laughing all the way to the bank!
