ST. GEORGE — An Enoch City man and his family will drive home in post-apocalyptic style in a massive black truck decked out in spikes and skulls with its twin all-terrain vehicle Tuesday.
The Maverik Mav Max truck and ATV was awarded to Brandon Peabody Oct. 22 in a giveaway that included nine other contenders in a contest for Maverik’s Adventure Club members.
Maverik partnered with Young Automotive Group to customize the truck’s design as an homage to the “Mad Max” film series.
A regular at several Maverik stores, Peabody said he’d like to take a mini-tour of all the stores he frequents when he drives the truck home for the first time.
“All the employees have been really supportive of it and really great about it; figure I’d pay them back a little bit,” he said.
Though he never personally owned an ATV prior to this, Peabody said he enjoys dune buggying with friends in the sand dunes at Sand Hollow. He plans to try out his new four-wheeler at Coral Pink Sand Dunes.
“Anytime I can go mudding, I will.”
His family is ecstatic about the reward. Peabody said his son is the most excited, and his first request was to ride to school in the truck.
“He is absolutely blown away,” Peabody said in reference to his son’s reaction to the prize.
Peabody racked up points toward the Mav Max truck and ATV by buying gas, soda and treats at the many Maverik stores he frequents.
“There’s days I buy three or four drinks a day — kind of adds up,” he said.
The contest is a regular promotion by Maverik for its club members, including next month’s Truck Norris giveaway.
