ST. GEORGE — If you dance, sing, play an instrument, juggle fire, have an amazing ventriloquist act or are just plain talented then the “Dixie’s Got Talent” competition is looking for you. Initial auditions for the 2017 edition of St. George’s biggest talent competition will take place Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Auditions will be held on the Dixie State University campus in the Eccles Concert Hall, 225 S. 700 East in St. George. The competition is open to all ages, individuals and groups. Judges are looking for a wide variety of talents and hope that anyone interested will attend the audition.

Bands will be required to send a link to a two-three-minute YouTube video of their band audition to [email protected] in place of their audition.

Audition times are on a first-come, first-served basis and auditions will be 90 seconds long.

There is a small fee to audition; a small group of one-nine people is $10; a large groups of 10 or more people is $40.

Audition applications can be found online. The final day to submit applications is Nov. 4.

After the initial auditions a callback round will be held Nov. 19. The final competition will take place in the Cox Auditorium on the Dixie State campus, Jan. 19, 2017, at 7 p.m.

This year’s competition in January showcased 20 finalists who performed their talents in front of a sold-out crowd. Contestants were divided into two age groups; youth (17-and-under) and adult (18-and-over). One winner and one runner-up from each category was chosen. Winners received a cash prize along with bragging rights.

“Dixie’s Got Talent” is produced annually by Dixie Scholarship Associates in cooperation with the Dixie Foundation and with the support of the Dixie State University Student Alumni Association. All proceeds from the event go toward providing needs-based scholarships for students who would be unable to continue their education otherwise due to financial or life-changing circumstances.
