ST. GEORGE — The intersection of Brigham Road and River Road is racking up the accident statistics this week. A T-bone collision Wednesday afternoon brought the count to four crashes in three days.
In the latest wreck, a grey pickup truck was northbound on River Road just after noon approaching the signal at Brigham Road, witness Brad Sheneman of St. George said. A red Mustang was southbound on River Road when the grey pickup truck turned left in front of it, he said.
The Mustang T-boned the pickup truck, sending both cars spinning.
Sheneman said the pickup truck wound up hitting the front end of his vehicle – a Dodge Durango – as he was waiting at the signal to turn left onto River Road.
“I saw the truck sitting there waiting to turn left,” Sheneman said, “I saw that red Mustang coming at him and I’m like, ‘Oh crap! There’s going to be an accident!'”
“The Mustang smacked into the side of the truck,” Sheneman said, “The truck, I believe, was actually in the air because the Mustang kind of went underneath it, flipped it up and around, and I’m like, ‘Oh no! It’s going to hit me!’ It landed right in front of me and then slammed into the front of my car.”
Sheneman tried to call his wife Laura from the scene, to tell her that her car had been hit, but her phone started ringing in the car. The bad news had to wait until he got home from the accident scene.
St. George Police Officer Lona Trombley said no injuries were reported in the incident. Airbags deployed in the Mustang and all occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The driver of the pickup truck was cited for failure to yield on a left hand turn.
This is the fourth accident in three days to occur at or adjacent to this intersection, Trombley said. Six vehicles were involved in a chain reaction collision Tuesday at Brigham Road and Bloomington Hills Drive. The cars were backed up and waiting for the light at River Road.

Monday there were two wrecks in the same area. A 3-car collision took place about 12:45 p.m. and a 2 car collision was reported at about 1 p.m.
Trombley attributes the recent spate of wrecks to inattentive drivers not being used to the light at River Road and Brigham Road.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

I have seen a lot if people using turn signals only if they are turning or not at all. YOU have to use them even when making lane changes. Even cops need to work on it. No one can read minds. Signal your intent please. It would help save a lot of lives.
