ST. GEORGE — Solomon’s Porch, a longtime Foursquare Fellowship church in St. George, welcomed a new pastor Sunday. The Rev. Rickine Kestin, wife of the current pastor the Rev. Jimi Kestin, was ordained a minister during the church’s Sunday service by friends and visitors, including the Rev. Ron Flores and the Rev. Paula Flores from the Meadows Fellowship church in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“Our movement acknowledges that women are just as viable and anointed to share the gospel of Jesus,” Ron Flores said. “There’s a process, and Rickine started the process two years ago …. She was interviewed and she passed two years ago. Today, the church acknowledged that she reached the highest license, which is ordination.”

“It’s a humbling experience,” Rickine Kestin said. “It’s like Pastor Ron described. It’s a beginning of service: To be able to minister the Word to anyone that will listen, and even some that won’t, to have that authority vested in me by the Foursquare Church.”

Rickine Kestin said the Foursquare Church has been ordaining women since its founding in 1923.

“Aimee Semple McPherson is the one who founded the Foursquare Church, and she was the founding minister of the church,” Rickine Kestin said.

The Kestins said they feel a great affinity toward St. George.

“I love St. George, I love the community, and I don’t like to see anyone in need,” Rickine Kestin said. “My husband and I believe in the St. George community …. We just love this community so much, and it means a lot to us to keep it a family-oriented community.”

Solomon’s Porch meets Sundays at 11 a.m., followed by a lunch. All are welcome at both the service and lunch at 1495 S. Blackridge Drive in St. George.
