Just after 7 p.m., Washington Fire crews were dispatched to a structure fire at a condo on 290 W Buena Vista Boulevard.

The homeowner of the condo was in his garage doing some work when an air compressor caught fire, Washington City Fire Chief Matt Evans said.

“His air compressor kicked on then kicked off and then started on fire,” he said.

Fire crews responded quickly and were able to contain the fire before it spread from the garage into the rest of the condo.

“The homeowner did have some smoke inhalation and was treated by Gold Cross,” Evans said.

The other occupants left the home safely when the fire started.

Fire damage was limited to the area just around the compressor with some light smoke damage to the rest of the condo, Evans said. Damage is estimated to be around $3000 dollars.

“It’s pretty minor,” he said.

Washington City Power and a unit from Washington City Police also responded to the fire.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
