ST. GEORGE — A school bus with students on board and a Ford SUV collided Monday afternoon on a road next to Costco, not far from Pine View High School.

The collision was reported just after 3 p.m. and first responders rushed to the scene.

The SUV appeared to have collided with the left side of the bus just behind the rear wheel.

Police blocked off the eastbound side of E. 850 North just west of N. 3050 East Street, next to Costco, in order to handle the incident and begin an investigation.

Traffic moving eastbound was affected and cars were diverted through the parking lot of Sportsman’s Warehouse and the Costco parking lot in order to get to 3050 East where traffic was moving normally.

The students on the bus involved in the incident were transferred to another district school bus for transport home. The affected bus was moved into the parking lot for an inspection and driver interview.

Eastbound traffic remained blocked for about 10 minutes further while the SUV was removed from the street.

St. George Police, St. George Fire and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the incident.

Further details were not available at publication time despite repeated calls to authorities.

This report is based on preliminary information and may not contain the full scope of findings.
