WASHINGTON CITY – A teenager crashed into a neighborhood yard and landed on top of a fire hydrant just before noon Monday.
Officers were dispatched to the incident at about 11:40 a.m. Monday morning.
A male juvenile driver was westbound on Stable Way in Washington driving a Ford passenger car, Washington City Police Public Information Officer Ed Kantor said.
“For an unknown reason (he) was distracted from the road, left the roadway and struck a fire hydrant, breaking off the fire hydrant,” Kantor said.
“He (the juvenile driver) indicated he had dropped something but for whatever reason, his eyes were diverted from the road,” Kantor said. “Fortunately, it was just a fire hydrant and not something else.”
The driver was issued a citation for careless driving, Kantor said.
“It’s just a reminder to folks about being distracted. There’s any number of ways it can happen – texting, cell phone, dropping something, talking to someone in the back seat – all those are distractions, so it’s a good reminder to keep the eyes on the road when the car’s in motion.”
The Ford was heavily damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Washington City Police Department and Great West Towing responded to the incident.

what did he drop on the floor? his cell phone?
Well I’m sure Sheriff anybody home of Mayberry and Deputy Arcana Fife will investigate this and I’m sure this will result in a trip to the principles office !
