PAROWAN — “There’s magic in the air at the Iron County Fair.” That is the theme for this year’s Iron County Fair taking place Thursday through Monday at the Iron County Fairgrounds in Parowan.

This family-friendly fair is a Labor Day weekend delight for Iron County residents and beyond. The fair features several staple activities, including a parade, a livestock show, classic cars, caravanning tractors, carnival rides, food and much more.

A highlight of the fair is the rodeo, said Iron County Fair secretary, Debbie Grimm. And this year, the rodeo is taking it up a notch.

“The exciting news this year is that we have gone PRCA for this rodeo,” Grimm said.

The Bar T Rodeo Company has been producing quality Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rodeos across the western United States for 60 years, according to information on the Iron County Fair website. This year they will provide guests of the Iron County Fair with a professional rodeo experience.

The rodeo will take place Saturday at 7 p.m. and Monday at 6 p.m. Saturday’s rodeo will feature a preshow with country singer, Charley Jenkins. There will also be a firework show after the Saturday event.

In keeping with the theme of magic in the air, Grimm said, a Classic Air Medical helicopter will delight guests at the fair with a ping-pong ball drop.

“That is part of how we will create the magic in the air,” Grimm said.

Fairgoers are encouraged to catch the ping-pong balls, which will be numbered, and bring them to the rodeo. During the rodeo, the numbers will be drawn for prizes, Grimm said.

We are a very family-friendly fair. All of our activities are geared toward families,” Grimm said. “It is lots of fun, and there are so many different activities. We love it. That’s why we do it.”

The Iron County Fair kicks off Thursday at 4 p.m. with the opening of the carnival rides and the Little Buckaroo Junior Rodeo at 6 p.m.
