ST. GEORGE — A local woman took a scary ride Tuesday afternoon when her SUV rolled on Main Street after another vehicle failed to yield at a stop sign and ran into her.

“The Honda CR-V was traveling north on Main,” St. George Police Sgt. Spencer Holmes said. “As it approached this intersection of 1160 South…the driver of the blue Hyundai Veloster did not yield after the stop sign (and) pulled in front of the northbound Honda CR-V.”

The impact caused the Honda CR-V to roll, ending up just north of the intersection. The Hyundai Veloster careened to the south, where it came to rest disabled in a hotel driveway.

Holmes said the driver of the Honda CR-V had to be extricated from her vehicle through the passenger side due to damage on the driver’s side. She was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George by Gold Cross Ambulance with assorted bumps and bruises.

“She’s pretty shaken up,” Holmes said.

The driver of the Hyundai Veloster was reportedly not injured in the wreck, Holmes said. He will be cited for failure to yield after a stop sign.

Airbags did deploy on the Honda CR-V. Both vehicles required towing from the crash site, and traffic was slowed and diverted through the area for about 20 minutes.

Units from the St. George Police Department, the St. George Fire Department, and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

The price of the ticket will be nothing compared to the cost to replace and or repair the vehicles involved. Just a simple case of not paying attention. but at least the drivers will be home with family and loved ones.
you can always replace an automobile
