ST. GEORGE – A St. George man was arrested last week after another man reported to police he had been allegedly sexually assaulted while still a teen.
In early July a 21-year-old man told police he had been involved in a sexual assault incident while 16 or 17 years old, according to a probable cause statement filed in support of the arrest.
Kim Charles Nelson, 69, was named as the suspect involved.
The alleged victim told police that while a teen, he and Nelson would drink alcohol at Nelson’s home. He would also allow the teen to view pornography on a tablet. The two also engaged in sex acts on three separate occasions, according to the police report.
Nelson was interviewed by police and told his rights, after which he confirmed “knowing the victim had consumed alcohol and viewed pornography.” As to the sexual acts, however, Nelson told police he was an “unwilling participant.”
Nelson was arrested and charged with three counts of third-degree felony unlawful sexual conduct with a 16 or 17 year old, one third-degree felony count of dealing harmful materials to a minor, and a class B misdemeanor for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
He is set to appear in court Aug. 29.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
