WASHINGTON COUNTY – A number of collisions and vehicle incidents occurred on southbound Interstate 15 in the general area of milepost 13 in Washington County during the 10 o’clock hour, snarling traffic which continues to be backed up and moving slowly as this report publishes.

In one case, Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Chris Lewis told St. George News at the shoulder of the Interstate, a woman’s vehicle went off the road onto the shoulder because of the rain, causing some backup.

“Most of them are minor PDs (property damage),” Lewis said, indicating three or four incidents in the area just before 11 a.m. “There might be a minor PI (personal injury).”

Traffic was backing up with people slamming on their brakes, he said, but one lane was open allowing traffic to flow through.

Crashes were still being cleared at 11 a.m.
