ST. GEORGE — Titles will be on the line this weekend in the 12th Annual Legend Solar Utah State Long Drive Championship at Coral Canyon Golf Course.

Some of the state’s most powerful hitters will descend on Coral Canyon’s hole No. 1 Friday and Saturday. The event is open to professionals as well as amateurs and also welcomes spectators and fans to the event, which is hosted by ESPN SportsRadio’s Devin Dixon.

Qualifying starts Friday at 3 p.m. and lasts until 9 p.m. Friday night, then continues Saturday at 1 p.m. The finals are Saturday night.

“This event is really fun and it gives us a chance to see some of the best talent in the state,” Dixon said. “One of the big things this year is we’ve added a couple more junior divisions so young people, boys and girls, have a chance for competition and prizes. It’s going to be awesome.”

There are 10 divisions this year in the Legend Solar Utah State Long Drive Championship, including men’s pro open, amateur open, men’s senior (40-plus), men’s super senior (50-plus), masters (60-plus), women’s open, 18 and under boys, 18 and under girls and the new classifications, 14 and under boys and 14 and under girls.

This is southern Utah’s ultimate golf event, said Dixon.

“Every year, we get new Long Drive competitors and we keep growing the event,” he said. “We are really excited about the new junior divisions. In fact, JAG golfers get 50-percent off their entry fee.”

Golfers can also compete in the Vangilder Homes Shootout, where a hole-in-one in the Finals wins a home worth a quarter-million dollars. Plus, golfers have a chance to enter the putting contest, presented by Sunrise Tire, for a chance at $5,000 cash.

On top of that, there is an 18-hole scramble, presented by Camping World, to benefit JAG and Desert Hills Cheer this year and there is still time to get your 4-man scramble team ready on Saturday, June 11, at Coral Canyon.

“I have taken the best things I like from charity events over the years and wrapped it all into one,” Dixon said. “Hole-in-ones for RV’s and cars, plus lots of on course contests and lots of prizes and raffles.”

Space is limited, so sign up in advance for the scramble.
